Questions for Coaches
Home     About Us    Index

Some or all of these questions may be helpful in interviewing high school coaches. Feel free to use these questions or to add more of your own.

How did you get into coaching? Where have you coached and for how long?

Tell me about your athletic career prior to coaching.

Who are the most influential people in your life?

What coaches do you admire most? Why do you admire them?

What are some of the most important lessons that you're trying to teach your athletes?

What are your hobbies?

Talk about your family.

Talent is important, of course. But what other traits do you look for in an athlete?

Talk bout your educational background: where you went to school, what you majored in, favorite courses, etc.

Name some people whom you admire (either from history or from current events).

Name your favorite movies, music, or books.

If you could send a message to the next generation, what would it be?

Note: If the school is sponsored by a religious organization, it may also be appropriate to ask a question such as: "Talk about the role that faith has played in your own life? And what about the role that faith plays in the life of the school?"
